Letter from Dad to Mom

Nov 5, 1946

Hello Sweetheart,

It seems so long since I saw you last Sunday. You know I miss you very, very much. I missed you today more than ever maybe because it was a holiday. Well, today i voted for the first time, Cheri. It was some trill too. And the latest news of the election was that Mead had conceded to Dewey.

Enough of politics, lets talk about you. I love you very much, sweetheart, very, very much. Tomorrow I'll be in the Bronx as usual. You know, Cheri, it's so lonely without you. One never realizes how much one loves another until that person is gone away from them. I shouldn't write this to you, instead I should cheer you up but I can't help it. I love you and miss you, that's all there is to it. I can't wait until we get together for keeps. I love you, sweetheart.

I'm still working on that idea I told you about yesterday and I'll tel you about it Saturday. It may be silly, but it's worth a try____ for you, sweetheart.

You may find this hard to believe but I think that I have fallen further in love with you, sweetheart. You are the nicest and best thing that has ever happened to me and I'll try may best always to keep you happy.

I love you so much,
Frank, x x x etc.

One question....what holiday is he refering to? Unless he celebrates Guy Fawkes day :-)

I vote that it was Holloween - Daddy was such a romantic. Now I know why Mommy feel for him. What a cutie.....

Okay, that was a beautiful letter. It is 1946. Dad is 21 years old. His Letter mentions Dewey. WOW. I think the holiday was election day. But I wonder what his silly idea was. Stephen, does his follow-up letter tell us.
